Alcohol Substance Abuse Treatment Center
If you have received a DUI arrest, Serenity House Counseling Services counselors will work with you to complete your classes as efficiently as possible, while helping identify any concerns that may have led to the arrest. We will also address the problem situation so that you will achieve your goals. We are licensed by the State of Illinois to provide DUI Risk Education classes for adults required to take such by the Illinois Secretary of State’s office. While all individuals with a DUI in Illinois must complete Risk Education, the Secretary of State may require you to participate in additional substance abuse treatment based on results of your DUI Evaluation.
Persons arrested for DUI must undergo an alcohol and drug evaluation (Alcohol and Drug Uniform Report). This will determine the extent of the alcohol and drug use. After the evaluation is completed, a risk classification is determined and followed by recommendations. Prior to the first attendance of any service as listed below, please come 30 minutes early for an intake session: collection of individual information, processing of forms, and review of program guidelines/rules.
The following are the risk classifications and recommendations:
Minimal Risk (Level 1)
Risk Education is a 10-hour education program consisting of 4 sessions, each 2½ hours long. All individuals assessed at Level 1 or Level 2 Risk must complete Risk Education.
Wednesdays: 12:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Thursdays: 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Alcohol and drug awareness class focused on information on substance use/DUI laws & prevention of further consequences.
Moderate Risk (Level 2)

10 hours of Risk Education.

Intake (individual session to collect background info, fill out forms, and go over rules/guidelines of the program).

12 hours of group counseling divided into 6 two-hour group sessions (cannot be completed in less than 4 weeks from the intake date).
Significant Risk (Level 2)

10 hours of Risk Education.

Intake.

20 hours of group counseling divided into 10 two-hour group sessions.

12 hours of continuing care divided into 6 two-hour group sessions. Once per month for 6 months.
High Risk

Intake.

75 hours of group counseling divided into 4 sessions per week, 3 hours per session for 7 weeks (20-25 sessions).
