Subject: Join Us in Raising Overdose Awareness and Supporting Recovery Centers

Dear [Name],

Overdose Awareness Day is approaching, and it's an opportunity for us to come together and make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by addiction.

Overdose Awareness Day is observed on August 31st, and serves as a solemn reminder of the lives lost to drug overdoses and a chance for us to raise awareness about the devastating impact of addiction. This cause is close to my heart, and I believe that by spreading awareness and supporting recovery centers, we can make a real difference.

What is Overdose Awareness Day?

Overdose Awareness Day is a global event that aims to raise awareness about overdose prevention, reduce the stigma associated with addiction, and remember those we have lost. It's a day to come together as a community and support individuals and families affected by addiction.

How Can You Help?

I'm reaching out to ask for your support in two ways:

1. Spread the Word: Please take a moment to share this email with your friends and family. Awareness is key to preventing future overdoses, and your simple act of sharing can make a significant impact.

2. Make a Donation: If you're able and willing, I encourage you to consider making a donation to recovery centers like Serenity House. Places like Serenity play a crucial role in providing support, resources, and a safe environment for individuals in their journey to recovery. Your contribution, no matter how small, can help save lives and provide hope to those in need.

Copy: Did you know that one in 7 Americans report experiencing a substance use disorder? It's a shocking reality, and we must address this issue with compassion and understanding. Addiction can happen to anyone.

👉 A simple but powerful step we can all take is to revise the words and terms we use when discussing addiction and those affected by it. Research has shown that using "person-first" language is essential for reducing stigma. This means focusing on the individual, not just their condition. Instead of using stigmatizing terms like "substance abuser," let's use person-first language like "a person with a substance use disorder."

Let's foster a more compassionate and supportive community for those dealing with addiction. By choosing our words wisely, we can promote understanding and empathy, and ultimately help those in need find the path to recovery.

Copy: It's important to remember and celebrate the lives of those who fought a battle against addiction. On this upcoming Overdose Awareness Day, August 31st, I want to take a moment to reflect on the precious souls we've lost too soon due to overdose.

If you have a story you'd like to share about a loved one lost to overdose, I encourage you to join me in this endeavor. By sharing our experiences, we not only remember those we've lost but also offer support and understanding to others who may be going through similar pain.

Use the hashtag #RememberingWithLove and let's build a space of empathy and strength. Together, we can help break the stigma surrounding addiction and provide hope for those who continue to battle this struggle. 🌟 Let's make this Overdose Awareness Day a day of unity, compassion, and remembrance.
